Questions to ask before joining, from format and privacy to what the first meeting involves.
Ask About Support
A Practical Guide
You Can Ask Questions Before You Join
Anxiety about a first group can include very practical questions. Will you recognize someone? Are you expected to introduce yourself in detail? Will the conversation focus on a concern like yours? You are allowed to ask about the structure before deciding whether to participate.
Cornerstone’s Anxiety, Depression & Trauma Support group is an existing theme in the practice’s group plans. Groups are forming based on community interest. Before joining, confirm the dates, the format you prefer, and the practice’s intake process.
Keep This in View
Choosing a Group Is a Fit Decision
You do not need to convince yourself that a group is the only acceptable way to get support. Think about what you want from the experience: learning skills, hearing how others describe similar difficulties, or having a regular place to work on a concern. Bring that purpose into the first conversation with the practice.

Ask About the Room Before Sharing Your Story
Start with format, timing, cost, and expectations. Cornerstone offers in-person and online groups; ask which option applies to the group and schedule you are considering. For an online meeting, ask what private space and technology are needed. Telehealth participation requires being located in California.
Privacy also needs an actual conversation. Ask how confidentiality is explained, what group members agree to, and what happens if you already know another participant. A clinician can explain professional responsibilities and group rules, but another participant’s behavior cannot be guaranteed by a website.
A Place to Begin
Three Questions to Work Through
Describe Your Interest
Say you want to learn about the anxiety support group. An initial website, call, or text inquiry can stay general.
Ask About Expectations
Find out how introductions, participation, attendance, and questions are handled before assuming you must disclose a personal history.
Confirm the Next Step
Ask about dates and the practice’s formal intake and consent process. Keep clinical information in the secure process the practice directs you to use.
Practical Details to Confirm
The planned group rate is $50 per person for 53 minutes weekly. Confirm the actual schedule, payment arrangements, cancellation terms, and any coverage question directly with the practice before care. A planned rate does not mean your insurance has approved the group.
A Note for the First Meeting
Once participation is confirmed, you might bring a question you want answered and an example of a skill you hope to practice. You do not need to prepare a polished account of your life. Ask the facilitator what to expect if you need clarification during a meeting.

Questions You May Have
Can I join from another state?
Cornerstone’s telehealth care is for people located in California. Ask the practice about your location before scheduling.
Do I need to tell the whole group about my history?
Ask the facilitator about participation and disclosure expectations. Do not assume the first meeting requires a detailed account.
How do I ask about joining?
Call or text Cornerstone to ask about the anxiety support group. Keep the initial inquiry general; the practice can explain current plans and its intake process.
