About This Group

A Name With a Sense of Humor, and Serious Work

Heartbreak Hotel offers clinical support for adults recovering from significant relationship loss, including breakups, divorce, separation, and infidelity. Clients receive support with processing grief and loss, identifying and coping with difficult emotions, developing healthy coping strategies, and improving self-awareness.

The group also focuses on interpersonal and intrapersonal boundaries, and on handling relationship-related stressors in a way that supports healing, personal growth, and improved emotional functioning.

Giving the Day a Manageable Shape

After a relationship changes, ordinary decisions can become complicated: who to tell, how to handle shared plans, or what contact feels appropriate. You do not have to solve every question at once. It may help to identify which decision needs attention now and which can wait. A discussion of boundaries can include your own habits as well as contact with the other person. The purpose is to understand your needs, not to prescribe a timeline for moving on.

The Neuroscience

Why You Keep Checking Their Profile

Attachment runs on the same reward circuitry as other things we crave, so a breakup can feel like withdrawal. The checking, the replaying, and the sudden waves of feeling have a biological explanation.

So you can stop calling yourself weak, put the phone down when you are able, and start building new routines while your brain catches up to the news.

Who This Group Is For
