What to Expect

From your first call to your first session, so nothing catches you off guard.

Talk With Cornerstone

Three Stages

The Path In

  1. First Contact

You call or text. Calling or texting does not establish a therapist-client relationship.

  2. Intake and Consent

Ask Cornerstone how to complete intake and consent. Do not send insurance details or health history by text.

  3. First Session

You and Tatiana talk about what you want to work on, or your first group begins once it is scheduled.

Individual

Your First Session

It is normal to feel nervous and to not know where to begin. Tatiana will ask what brought you in, what you have tried, and what you would like to be different. She will also explain confidentiality and its limits. You do not have to tell your whole story in one hour, and you can ask her questions too.

Group

Your First Group

Once your group is scheduled, you arrive or log in, and the plan is a short check-in you can pass on, something to learn, and time to practice. You are not expected to share anything big on the first day.

A Few Ground Rules

  • Please give more than 24 hours notice to cancel, or a late cancellation fee applies
  • Join telehealth from a private, stationary place
  • Crisis needs go to 988 or 911, not to text

If Cornerstone Is Not the Right Fit

Sometimes another level of care or a different clinician may be a better fit. Ask about fit and possible next steps during the consultation.

Common Questions

How long will I be in therapy?

It depends on what you are working on. You can talk about progress at any time.

Can I stop if it is not working?

Yes. You are always free to stop or to ask for a change.
